About motorzoo power cables and connectors
The 6AWG Cable 175 Amp Parallel Adapter (to 3x 120 Amp connectors) is a component in the overall wiring harness for motorzoo outboards.
The wiring harnesses for our outboard motor powertrains may carry high current loads, up to 240 Amps for the 11.5kW motors.
For this reason, we use pure copper wiring, combined with sturdy and reliable Anderson plug connector systems.
The battery terminals on all our LiFePOâ‚„ batteries make use of the standardised battery M8 terminal connector.
The outboards themselves, may use 50 Amp, 120 Amp, 175 Amp, or 350 Amp connectors, depending on the motor.
The more powerful the motor, the higher the current load, so the thicker the cable, and the larger the connector.
About the 6AWG Cable 175 Amp Parallel Adapter
This adapter is made to join up to 3x powerzoo LiFePO4 batteries in parallel, to the electric outboard motor wiring harness for our 3000W 5hp, or 6500W 10hp motors.
The 6500W 10hp motor, being 6.5 kiloWatts, (or equivalent to 10hp) will draw up to 135 Amps in power, at 48 Volts.
Such power would require up to 3x 50 Amp hour, ie. 2500Wh 48V LiFePO4 batteries wired in parallel, to achieve peak power. Each battery being able to discharge up to 50 Amps continuously.
The cabling connectors are able to attach as follows:
- The 120 Amp connector is able to plug into the 120 Amp Battery Cable Connector in the wiring harness.
- The 175 Amp connector is able to plug into the 175 Amp Power Cable Extension in the wiring harness.
- The 175 Amp Power Cable Extension is able to plug into the 6500W 10hp Performance Electric Outboard Motor (Or the 3000W 5hp Performance Electric Outboard Motor).
The connectors have an intrusion rating of IP64, which indicates total protection from dust ingress, and protection from water splashes from any angle.
Note that this does not indicate protection from total immersion in water, or from hight pressure water spray.
Operating Safety
At motorzoo we are obsessed with operating safety, in everything we do, and everything we sell.
This is why we use only high quality true copper wiring for the power trains, and sturdy Anderson connectors.
Our power trains are over-engineered in terms of size load capacity for the loads that they are expected to handle.
And it is not possible to connect harnesses which are inadequate for the power of the motors they are intended to service.
The cables, connectors, and wiring harnesses are an important part of the overall powertrain for the electric outboards.
And they should be inspected regularly for any damage, and maintained to protect the powertrain from issues such as corrosion or heat damage.
Spare Parts And Accessories
There are also other spare parts and accessories available across the motorzoo range of electric outboard motors.
For example, our range of performance outboard spares includes:
